Rollins Mansion Addition
Des Moines, Iowa
Details: This elaborate home was built in 1925 by Ralph Rollins, owner of Rollins Hosiery Mills and was one of two homes in the area designed by local architects Byron Boyd and Herbert Moore. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. For this addition, Venter Spooner added a lower level gathering space and remodeled the adjacent kitchen and food prep area. The site was significantly challenging as the project required the existing carriage house to be structurally underpinned to accommodate the building addition.
