Grand View University Student Center & Skywalk
Des Moines, Iowa
From the client: “The new facility has become integrated with amazing speed into life on campus. It is a wonderful center of activity and even though it is becoming routine to attend classes, meet, dine and socialize there, I think it will be a very long time before any of us start to take for granted how important the building is for Grand View.” Kent L. Henning, President Grand View University
Details: The 67,500 square-foot Student Center sits on the east side of East 14th Street and connects to the Rasmussen Center on the west side of the street by the 156-foot long Jensen Bridge, one of the longest skywalks in Iowa. This building houses student support services, student life offices, the Bookstore, Viking Theatre, the Communication Department, and campus dining. It was designed to provide formal and informal gathering spaces for the campus. It also gives Grand View the ability to host outside groups for meetings and events involving the Des Moines community.
